Krillion Unlimited: How the Endless Dive Works

The Krillion Unlimited endless dive is the game’s mode for playing dive after dive. This is an independent guide to its mechanics, not the game itself.

What Unlimited actually is

The official mode name is THE ENDLESS DIVE, listed as Unlimited in the game’s menu. Players find Unlimited at krillion.io/unlimited/classic. Each dive is numbered, so the result screen always tells you which dive you just finished.

The mode's tagline says that “rarer answers sink deeper”, referring to its rarity-based scoring.

On the official site, a numbered dive can be selected through its address. The number after game= identifies the dive being shown. Changing that number displays a different dive.

Krillion is made by a single developer. The developer has reported copycat games and an Instagram account impersonating Krillion. The developer has also described Google’s AI search crediting a clone’s author as Krillion’s creator.

How a dive works

A Krillion Unlimited endless dive contains 7 prompts, using the same 7-prompt format as the daily dive. After a dive, the result screen offers two choices: NEXT DIVE continues into a new dive, PLAY THIS ONE AGAIN repeats the dive you just finished.

The result screen also offers COPY RESULT. Its comparison percentage relates your result to other players’ first runs of that same dive number.

The completed screen reads “KRILLION ∞ DIVE #N COMPLETE”, showing the dive number alongside the final total out of 700.

How scoring works

A dive is scored out of 700. Common everyday answers are worth about 10 points each, so filling the sequence with obvious choices produces a low total.

The publisher describes scoring in terms of rarity: “Rare answers sink you deeper. Obvious ones barely count.”

Finishing all seven prompts does not by itself put a dive in a higher band.

The publisher merges and cleans reference datasets into one accepted answer set. For some prompts, it calculates rarity mechanically against a familiarity database. That database measures how often a word or name appears in material people read and write. Other prompts cannot be reduced to that kind of familiarity measure. For those, the publisher combines curation assisted by a language model with a manual review.

The developer says the Krillion answer is not chosen on rarity alone. Some deep cuts can be rarer than the selected Krillion answer. At greater depths, small differences in rarity become difficult to distinguish, so the choice also considers how satisfying an answer is to find. The collected set can contain responses so obscure that hardly anyone would type them. The intended gem is something at least a few players can find.

A result screen can show 40 / 700. The first number is the score earned across that dive; the second is the full scoring scale. A total of 40 falls within Plankton’s 0–150 band. The comparison percentage shows the share of other players’ first runs of that dive that your result beat.

The game’s term “too clever” describes the go-to obscure pick that is not actually especially obscure.

The Bearing: the five score bands

The Bearing names five total-score ranges. The last column divides each range by the 7 prompts in a dive.

The Bearing, by total score
Score bandTier nameAverage per prompt (7 prompts)
0–150Planktonabout 0–21 points
151–250Schoolerabout 22–36 points
251–350Rareabout 36–50 points
351–449Deep cutabout 50–64 points
450 and aboveOne in a krillion64 points or more

These per-prompt figures are our own arithmetic on the 700-point total; the game names the bands but not the averages.

One in a krillion is the highest total-score band for a completed dive.

Depth and the dive log

The DEPTH display starts at 0m and descends, with a separate SCORE counter beside it. The dive log is labelled DEEPER = RARER and plots the prompts against marked depths.

Those markings run from 0m through -25, -50, -75 and -100, alongside prompts 1 to 7.

Unlimited vs the daily dive

The daily dive gives everyone the same seven prompts. The Krillion Unlimited endless dive keeps numbering new dives past that.

Unlimited vs Archive

Archive holds daily dives that have already aired and lets you replay them.

Replaying an archived dive does not extend a streak.

The one-time $5 unlock offer appears on the Archive screen.

What it costs

The Archive screen shows an unlock offer. It is a one-time $5 purchase, not a free feature. Check the official game’s access screen for the option you intend to use before buying.

Any unlock, for any pack, turns ads off across the whole site. Linking a Google account carries the unlock to other devices. The publisher also provides a restore page for a second device.

Why an answer may not be recognized

The answer set is closed and assembled from dictionaries, wiki pages and encyclopedias. The developer acknowledges that a fair answer can be missing because a source was missed.

Autocorrect checks aliases too, so a guess one or two letters away from an alias can resolve to something unintended.

Either the game's answer list has no entry for your word, or it has one under a different name.

Is there a Krillion Unlimited practice mode?

The game’s menu lists Daily dive, Unlimited, Puffer Party, Archive, Themed packs, My Krillion, Friends and FAQ, with no separate practice mode.

Players use NEXT DIVE and PLAY THIS ONE AGAIN on the result screen instead. NEXT DIVE continues to another dive; PLAY THIS ONE AGAIN repeats the completed dive. Archive also lets you replay an archived daily.

The one-time $5 unlock offer was observed on the Archive screen. That offer alone does not establish whether Unlimited itself requires the purchase. Check the access screen in the official game before paying.

Frequently asked questions

How many questions are in a Krillion Unlimited dive?

Each dive has 7 prompts, matching the daily dive’s 7-prompt format. After the result screen, NEXT DIVE lets you continue into another dive.

Is Krillion Unlimited free?

The unlock shown on the Archive screen is a one-time $5 purchase. Any pack unlock also removes ads across the site, and linking a Google account carries the purchase to other devices. Check the official game’s access screen before deciding to purchase.

How is the Krillion Unlimited score calculated?

Rarity determines the score, and each dive's total is shown out of 700. Common everyday answers score about 10 points each. The result screen places the total in one of five named bands.

What does Plankton mean in Krillion?

Plankton is the name of the 0–150 total-score band in The Bearing. It is the first of the five named bands displayed for a dive’s result.

Why did a correct answer score 0?

The developer acknowledges that a fair answer can be missing from the closed answer set when a source was missed. Autocorrect also checks aliases, so a near-match can resolve to an answer you did not intend.
