The goal: balance every bed

Each supply card has a sunlight value and a water value. Each garden bed shows a target for both. Place exactly two cards in every bed so that their sunlight adds up to its sunlight target and their water adds up to its water target.

Use all six cards, once each. Every bed must be balanced at the same time. Any arrangement that meets those conditions is a winning garden.

An example pair: 6 sunlight and 4 water
Card A2 sunlight3 water
Card B4 sunlight1 water
A balanced pair2 + 4 = 6 sunlight
3 + 1 = 4 water

Place, move, and check your cards

  1. Choose a supply card. Select its button to pick it up. The selected card is marked on the board.
  2. Choose a garden space. Select an empty space to place the card. Placing it over another card returns that other card to your supplies.
  3. Adjust your arrangement. Choose an already placed card from your supplies to move it. With no supply card selected, select a filled space to remove its card. Escape clears a selection.
  4. Check the whole garden. Once all six cards are placed, select “Check my garden.” Each bed is marked as balanced or needing another pair.

You can change placements as often as you like between submissions. An incomplete board does not spend a submission. “Clear placements” empties the beds while keeping the number of submissions already used.

On a keyboard, use Tab to move between controls and Enter or Space to select them. The controls work by selection on phones too, so dragging is not required.

How scoring works

You have up to six complete submissions. A first-submission success earns 100 points. Each unsuccessful submission before your winning one reduces that final score by 15 points. Taking your time does not reduce your score.

Six unsuccessful submissions end the day with 0 points. A finished game shows the date, submission count, score, and one valid arrangement. The copy-result button gives you a short, spoiler-free result to share.

Three ways to find your next pair

Check both totals together

A pair that reaches the sunlight target may still miss the water target. Look for the second match before spending a submission.

Start with a restrictive target

A small target rules out cards that already exceed it on their own. Try those tighter beds first, then check what remains for the other two beds.

Think about the whole garden

A tempting pair can leave the remaining cards unable to balance the other beds. Once you find a pair, test the possibilities it leaves. Keep a balanced pair in place while exploring, and be ready to reconsider it if the rest will not fit.

A new garden, every UTC day

Everyone sees the same puzzle for the same UTC date. The new day begins at midnight UTC, which may be a different time on your local clock. The board checks for the new day when it is open and when you return to the tab.
